If there's one thing they can say about student life in Leeds, it's that you'll never get bored! The city is really geared up for students (there are 30 odd thousand at Leeds Uni alone) and the Union, halls and social life is always active. Here's a taster of some of the extra things you can get involved in during your time in Leeds:
- Residents' Committees Each hall has a Residents' Committee where students organise sports, events and activities ranging from theme park visits, to pub crawls, to themed formal dinners to movie nights. It's a chance to meet loads of new people and gain lots of skills to stick on your CV.
- Societies Leeds University Union has a society for almost every interest, hobby or culture, and if they don't have yours - you can start your own! Join that juggling or sky diving society you've always wanted - see what there is on the Students' Union website and once you're here you can try one of the Give It A Go sessions to see what it is you fancy.
- Nightlife Award-winning student nights, sell-out venues and affordable prices - look no further, it's all going on in the Students' Union! Look at what's coming next as a sample of what you could be experiencing in Leeds.
- Sports Teams Whether you're sporty, or you just fancy having fun and getting fit at the same time, you can join one of the sports teams in your residence then battle it out with other residences to be crowned Inter Halls Sports Champions.
- Volunteering Give something back to the community and get invaluable life experience. Either as a one-off or a regular commitment, check out the LUU website or go to the Volunteering and Community Office upstairs in the Union.
- NUS discounts! Once you're at Uni, you will learn the mantra "can I get student discount off that?" and use it almost everywhere you go. Because Leeds is such a student friendly place, there are lots of discounts and offers available.
