International Life - Making yourself at home

Being an international student in Leeds is great. There's so much to see, do and get involved in that will make your stay at Leeds and in the UK a really special one. We've gathered information and hints about why living in Leeds is so great for internationals:

International students Love:

  • The International Students' Club which runs regular events so you can meet people from different cultures as well as your own
  • The Union's clubs and societies that are bound to have a group to suit your interest, or if not you can start your own! There are different faith and culture groups, and special interests ranging from belly dancing to extreme frisbee
  • Leeds is surrounded by fabulous British countryside. It's just a train/bus ride to the Yorkshire Dales, Peak District or Lake District
  • The Give it a Go scheme in the Union runs trips to great UK cities such as Edinburgh, Scarborough or Liverpool in the past
  • Airlines running from the Leeds Bradford airport often offer cheap flights, and being in the UK is a great opportunity to see Europe
  • The cultural events happening in Leeds such as regular theatre, opera and art displays
  • Meeting the friendly people of Leeds and getting involved in British culture. It won't be too long before you have your first roast dinner with Yorkshire pudding or chips with gravy!
  • Being only 2 and a half hours from London on the train with all the fantastic toursity things to do there
